Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI)

2011 Drought
MPCI policies are a part of the Federal crop insurance program that insures over 100 crops. MPCI policies must be purchased prior to planting and cover loss of crop yields from all types of natural causes including drought, excessive moisture, freeze, and disease. Newer coverage options combine yield protection and price protection to protect farmers against potential loss in revenue, whether due to low yields or changes in market price.
Beginning with the 2011 Crop Year, RMA created a Common Crop Insurance Policy, known as the COMBO rule, to merge the APH, CRC, RA, IP & IIP plans into a single insurance plan. The new COMBO plan will simplify the insurance process, and promote a better understanding of the options available for producers. RMA also developed a single rating and pricing component, which will keep insurance coverage and cost most consistent.
